Photoshop - Fixing Exposure
Before on the left, after on the right. I used a curves layer to brighten up the top layer, then applied a gradient layer mask (top to bottom) on the top layer so that the window didn't look too overexposed.

Photoshop - Playing with shapes and text
Practice with layer masks, cliping masks, free transform, shape tools, brush tools, text tools, shadow effects, and blending modes
Photoshop Class - Day 4
I learned about using non-photographic tools, like shape tools, brush tools, and text tools. I also learned about using blending modes and other effects on photographs to make them match non-photographic content.

Photoshop - Playing with face swapping
Here I played with layer masks, free transform, selection tools, touch up tools, a curves layer, and a color balance layer to pull off a face swap.
The final result looks creepily excited about all the destruction.
Photoshop - Playing with combining photos
I used the align tool to align the content of both photos, then applied a layer mask with selection tools (quick select, rectangle marquee, and magnetic lasso) to select an exact hole in the top layer. I also used the clone stamp tool to remove the glare from the top of the whiteboard.

Bear River Panorama after Photoshop automerge |
This is actually a combination of 14 different images that Photoshop combined with the automerge tool. If you look closely you can see some places where it looks like it messed up, but overall it did a pretty good job.
The outer edges weren't defined in the outcome of the automerge because the combination of the 14 images didn't naturally yield a perfect rectangle. To fill in the outer edges, I used the patch tool, spot healing tool, and clone stamp tool.
The original photos had the greenery underexposed and the sky overexposed, so I added a curves layer to lighten the darks and darken the lights.

InDesign - Interactive PDF
I followed an online InDesign tutorial to make interactive PDFs with hyperlinks, buttons, and bookmarks:

Final product |
I created the final product by doing the following:
1 - Automate photomerge on 3 images to get single panoramic image
2 - Use content-aware fill to fill in remaining gaps from photomerge
3 - Remove the people by using the clone stamp or the patch tool (or selecting them and using content-aware fill)
4 - Because the right-most image was underexposed, create a curves layer mask with a linear gradient to brighten the darks to the right of the image.

Photoshop Class Day 2
Photoshop class #2 at HBLL. Class #1 was about touching up single photographs. Class #2 was about combining multiple photographs. I learned about:
- Layer masks
- Auto aligning similar image layers
- Selection tools
- Applying curve/contrast/hue layers to a single image layer
In the example below, I replaced the astronaut's face with Garrett's face using selection tools and layer masks. To change the color balance and lighting on Garrett's face to match the image, I used a color balance layer and a curves layer that I applied exclusively to the layer with Garrett's face.
